MAAD 2012 Thesis Catalogue
The clients in this project were thirty thesis students at OCAD University, and they have requested a catalogue that would showcase the work that they have produced in their final year. The program consists of a small number of students, making it a close clique of students and the tools they use are deeply integrated in the production of their work.
Product photography is primarily used for marketing purposes. While the intent of the catalogue was to show off student thesis work, the challenge was to interpret complex themes and ideas as explored by student work using various different mediums with photography. Each student was encouraged to talk about their work as a short elevator pitch which informed the style and look captured for each of their projects.
Layout and graphic design was lead by fellow Graphic Designers, Michelle Liando and Daniel Kim. Together, Daniel and Michelle produce a recto-verso book where it begins on either side depending on the department of study and in the middle of the book is the foreword and essay that is on a different stock, bound by an elastic band.
