A fictional annual report for Canadian Natural Resources to emulate a large corporate client who may not align with personal views. The assignment was to translate the client's yearly annual report into an engaging and unique and eye catching design. Personal views aside, the biggest challenge was to maintain a consistent look and feel throughout the design and layouts which translated well into graphs and visual information.

Canadian Natural 2011 Annual Report

This project is a conceptual layout for a morally controversial client. The objective of this project was to create an annual report that puts a positive spin on the oil industry embroiled with the Alberta Tar Sands environmental issues. The purpose of the exercise was to introduce the reality that we do no always have the luxury of selecting clients in the future.

The look at design of the report was based on using a pipeline to lead the readers along the pages to show the growth and sustainable practices. Fictional graphic illustrations of the refinement process were used throughout the cover and subsequent pages to connect the pipeline to represent growth. Through the use of a fictional refinement process, the imagery and layout separated the implied environmental impact that a company like Canadian National may have to a stylized industrial footprint.
